  • Parents play a key role in preventing and responding to bullying. If you know or suspect that your child is involved in bullying, there are several resources that may help.

    • Recognize the warning signs that your child is involved in bullying. They could be being bullied, bullying others, or witnessing bullying.  Although these signs could signal other issues, you should talk to your child if they display any sort of behavioral or emotional changes.  Many times kids won’t ask for help, so it is important to know what to look for. If your child is at immediate risk of harming himself or others, get help right away.
    • Learn what bullying is and what it is not. Understanding what bullying is is the first step in forming a plan to prevent or respond to bullying with your child. Many behaviors that look like bullying may be just as serious, but may require different response strategies.  You can also learn about:

    Dear Parent/Guardian:

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP, is the state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career. CAASPP includes computer adaptive tests in English–Language Arts and Mathematics.

Crystal students will take the test from April 25th through May 13th. We will be on a block schedule Monday through Thursday during this time (Fridays are a regular bell schedule).   Students will be attending 3 classes each day (a bell schedule will be provided to each student prior to testing).

The testing schedule is listed below:

MATH   (Students will test in their Math class)

    4/25 1st, 3rd, 5th Periods

    4/26 2nd, 4th, 6th Periods

    4/27 1st, 3rd, 5th Periods

    4/28 2nd, 4th, 6th Periods

ENGLISH (Students will test in their English Class)

    5/2 1st, 3rd, 5th Periods 5/9 1st, 3rd, 5th Periods

    5/3 2nd, 4th, 6th Periods 5/10 2nd, 4th, 6th Periods

    5/4 1st, 3rd, 5th Periods 5/11 1st, 3rd, 5th Periods

    5/5 2nd, 4th, 6th Periods 5/12 2nd, 4th, 6th Periods

Make-up tests will be Friday, May 6th and May 13th in the Library.

Students, teachers, and administrators have invested time and effort to prepare for a successful CAASPP testing experience this year.  Please be sure your student comes to school April 25th through May 13th, ready to do the best they can on their CAASPP testing.  Research shows a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a positive attitude helps boost standardized test scores. PLEASE do NOT make any doctor or dentist appointments during CAASPP Testing.

Let’s work together to ensure all of our students reach their full potential.  We appreciate your continued support in making this year’s STAR testing program a success.

    John McMorris, Interim Principal

  • Hello CMS Families,

The California Department of Education (CDE) is currently engaged in litigation with two non-profit associations comprised of parents and guardians of children with disabilities. The plaintiffs in that litigation have requested numerous documents, as well as student data collected and stored by CDE, which may include personally identifiable student information.

Please understand that OUR district is not a party to the litigation and is not required to disclose any student information, nor do we intend to do so.

To comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA"), CDE has been ordered, among other things, to inform parents and students of the disclosure of such information. CDE has requested that school districts post a link to the CDE website that provides information about the case.  FSUSD has a webpage (http://www.fsusd.org/courtcase) with information about the case and the links to the state website. We have also added it as a Quick Link on the main FSUSD page.
We wanted to make certain you were aware of the case and of the link on our website. We will continue to update the District's and CMS's page as new information becomes available.
