Fairfield High School is proud to be an official No Excuses University school! The 6 principles below will guide our vision as a school in preparing our students for successful, productive lives:

1.     Committed: We believe that students deserve to be educated in a way that prepares them for college if they so choose to attend. We also believe that we the school, have the power to make this opportunity a reality.

2.    Courageous: To display courage is to show strength in the face of fear. We do this by ignoring those who try to tell us that our dreams for our students are unrealistic and impossible. We ask for forgiveness instead of permission. We hold one another accountable and we come together as a critical mass to confront the status-quo.

3.     Collaborative: Our collaborative spirit is grounded on the idea that we each have unique strengths as well as different weaknesses. We make the time to work with one another in a way that maximizes accountability while minimizing anxiety. This helps us to achieve greater success for our students as a team, while at the same time promoting balance in our lives as individuals.

4.    Creative: We are innovative and love to explore new ways to get results for our students. Experimentation is not a suggestion, but rather an expectation of an No Excuses University Pro. When we find success through our creativity, we celebrate as a staff and seek ways to replicate the results elsewhere.

5.    Character Centered: Character is doing the right thing when no one is watching… this goes double for adults. We are consistent with our rules and methods for teaching behavior as we take responsibility for all students.

6.     College and Career Crazy: College readiness is a tie that binds us as students, parents, and staff. Because of this we reveal the benefits of a college degree to all students in practical and achievable ways that offer hope for a better future. Our network exists to shatter the myths that a student has to be rich or privileged to go to college.

Principal's Message

Good evening Falcon Families, this is Kristen Witt calling with this week's announcements.

Our PSAT is this Wednesday, October 15th at 8:00 AM in our library. There are still tests left to buy. The test is focused for juniors, but sophomores are welcome as well! The cost of the PSAT is $15.00. Please go to the SA office and pay for your PSAT. The PSAT is great practice for the SAT, plus students who earn high scores can earn money for college!!

This week is Homecoming week! Each day is a themed day. Tuesday is stop light day, Wednesday is Pink Day for cancer awareness, Thursday is Class Competition, and Friday is Falcon Friday/Homecoming Theme.

Congratulations to Mr. Swetland and the entire Scarlet Brigade. We are all very proud of our Scarlet Brigade!!

Good evening Falcon Families, this is Kristen Witt calling with a very important announcement.

Today, at lunch and after school, we experienced several disturbances on campus. As a result of the disruptions, the Fairfield Police Department was called to provide an increased presence after school.  We are very appreciative of our strong partnership with the police department and the steps being taken to help keep our students safe.

We also want to remind students of the importance of modeling good citizenship both on and off campus.  This includes following directions and voicing concerns appropriately. Students are encouraged to seek out the help of an adult if they are experiencing a conflict.

The safety of our students is our top priority.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.  Have a wonderful evening.

September 28, 2014

Good evening Falcon Families, this is Kristen Witt calling with this week's announcements.

I would like to start this message by extending our thoughts and prayers to the student injured on Tuesday at Fairfield High.  We urge all parents to talk to their children about the dangers of jumping fences or entering secured areas. We do not want students attempting to jump any fence on campus. It is important to know that after school the gates in the front near the administration building are open late into the evening. All other gates are locked at 4:00 PM. All staff members do have keys if they need to open a gate for a student. Site staff is working with District staff to determine if more egress points are needed and to ensure any measures taken support a safe and secure learning environment. I want to again state that our thoughts and prayers go out to the student and the family.

The District as a whole has seen an increase in the number of students being picked up from school more than 30 minutes before the end of the day or before the end of a class period. In an effort to ensure that parents and students are aware how important it is that students are in class all period and all day, there is a new code being entered in attendance. Beginning Monday, if you pick your son or daughter up 30 minutes or more before the end of a class period for "early pick-up" it will be coded as a truancy in our attendance system. Please try to schedule appointments for your son/daughter outside of the school day.

As a reminder students are not allowed to carry balloons around campus since it causes distractions in the classroom. If balloons are delivered they will be held in the front office and students can pick them up at the end of the day.

We have been experiencing an increase in the number of parents calling their children on their cellphones during the school day. This is causing disruptions to the learning environment. We are asking that phone calls aren't made to students during the instructional day. If there is an emergency, please call the front office and we can get a message to your child.

Thank you to the parents that came to our first PIQE night on Wednesday. The next PIQE night is October 1st from 6:30-8:00. Light snacks will be provided and free childcare will be provided. PIQE is provided in both English and Spanish.

Have a wonderful evening and a great week!

Good evening Falcon Families, this is Kristen Witt calling with a few updates.

Today we had a great start to the new year. It was a day full of excitement and high energy.

You have probably heard from your students about the dress code, ID, and cellphone policies. The FSUSD adopted dress code policy is in affect. Students out of compliance will be asked to change into PE clothes or loaner clothes. All students must wear their ID's. New picture ID's will be issued next week on Picture Day, August 19th. Cellphones are not allowed out for personal use in the classroom. Students do have the privilege to use their cellphones during passing period and lunch.

ALL students will be receiving a student planner in their advisory class tomorrow. This is a yearlong calendar for them to keep track of homework, tests, upcoming events, and stay organized.

We did a great job of getting students into their classes by 8:00 AM today. Please remind your son/daughter that class starts at 8:00 and it would be best to arrive on campus by 7:45 to make sure he/she is on time.

Thank you for your partnership and have a wonderful evening.
