    New Classrooms/Portable Replacements

Anna Kyle New Classrooms This projected consisted of the construction of 12 new classroom and 1 new restroom building. The new facilities replace several portable and non-conforming buildings. The new classrooms were designed by ATI Architects of Danville. The classrooms have open vaulted ceilings with windows to let in natural lighting and are orientated north and south to minimize heating and cooling needs. These state-of-the art classrooms come equipped with computer and cable TV outlets, a multi-layered sliding teaching wall, lots of natural lighting, built in sinks and built-in storage. The rooms are also constructed using modern building technologies.

The new classrooms were constructed as a continuance of the main building, which allows for better security and also easier access to and from the main office. The older portables were on the north part of the campus, along Kidder Avenue, and were somewhat isolated from the rest of the campus. The removal of the portables drastically improved the look and feel of the campus and gives students the best possible learning environment. Anna Kyle Old Portables

In addition to the new classrooms, the District built new handicap accessible restrooms with tiled walls and flooring. The District also re-constructed a new parking lot where the northern portables were located which will allow for more on-site parking and better traffic flow. The parking lot is a significant improvement to the school site.

The project, completed Fall 2004, was constructed by West Coast Contractors of Fairfield. Facility Services of Napa provided Construction Management.

     Library and Administration Building Expansions

In May of 2007, library and administration expansions were started at Anna Kyle Elementary. The remodeling enhanced approximately 5,640 square feet of the existing main building. The site previously had an undersized library and administration center. The new work expanded the library and administration offices by incorporating space from two adjacent rooms.

The administrative improvements created a new nurse’s office, staff work room, conference room, principal’s and other administrator’s offices and a new reception area. A new teacher workroom and new staff restrooms were also provided. Casework and interior finishes were updated. The new library has expanded room for books, student work areas and resource computers. A new Phonic Ear microphone system was also be provided for better sound amplification and hearing during presentations.

Additional work involved creating a new improved entrance to the school closer to the parking lot; including a new drop off and pick up area, entry canopy and other site improvements. The new entrance enhances the look of the school and provides for safer access into the school.

The project was completed in phases with final completion in April 2008. JDS Builders of Winters did the construction work. Murray and Downs of Placerville was responsible for the Architectural design. Facility Services of Napa provided Construction Management Services.
