GATE Identification Process and Timeline

  • Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District's identification procedures are equitable, comprehensive, and ongoing.

GATE identification is based upon multiple measures.  These measures may include:
    • A score of 90%, or above, on the Naglieri, a cognitive ability test
    • High academic achievement on district identified standards tests
    • High ratings on the Renzulli-Hartman Scale for Rating the Behavior Characteristics of Gifted and Talented Students

As of now, GATE screening for the 2020-21 school year will take place in November. Unless opted-out by a parent/guardian, all first grade students will take the Naglieri Non-Verbal Ability Test (NNAT3). Students in grades 2-7 may be referred by school personnel and/or a parent/guardian to be screened for the gifted program. The "request to test" form will be active in early Spring 19-20.
