  • CAHSEE SUSPENSION- SB172

A recent bill was passed which suspends the passage of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) as a requirement for high school graduation through the 2017-2018 school year.

SB 172 exempts any student, beginning with the 2003-2004 school year, from the CAHSEE graduation requirement. The exemption requires that the district issue diplomas to any student who failed the CAHSEE but met all other state and local requirements for graduation.

Senate Bill 172 (SB172) will take effect on January 1, 2016

At that time, the school district will issue diplomas to students who have met all other high school graduation requirements but have not passed the CAHSEE since the 2003-2004 school year.
