Ms. Kelly Briggs
I am a single mother of a Middle School child, and I have been teaching for seven years.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Sacramento, and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology from Ashford University. I have three teaching credentials through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing: Science (specializing in life science), Physical Education, and Adapted Physical Education. I am trained as an AVID elective teacher and taught AVID for two years at Fairfield High School. I am trained as an SSA (Safe School Ambassadors) facilitator and trainer and have worked as a facilitator. I have also been trained in Restorative Practices and implement them in my classes.
I have taught at three different schools in a number of capacities. I started my career at Dixon Montessori Charter School as a K-8 Science and Physical Education teacher. Then I moved to Fairfield high school where I taught Science, P.E., and AVID. Now, I am teaching at Matt Garcia Career and College Academy (MGCCA) as the sole science teacher in the Fall, and teach one additional class of P.E. in the Spring.
At MGCCA, in addition to teaching, I am Teacher in Charge when our principal is off campus, I serve on the school site committee, and I work as a teacher mentor to new teacher to aid in their transition to the teaching profession. I also coach Middle School Girl's Basketball, and Girls on The Run.
I am absolutely thrilled to work in this district and school, and happy to have such great students and colleagues to work with.
