Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year

  • This is an extremely exciting year in Fairfield-Suisun Unified.  I am so proud to be in my fifth year serving as superintendent.  In 1986, during a teacher shortage similar to the one we are currently experiencing, I was recruited from South Dakota to teach in FSUSD.  The majority of my career has been dedicated to FSUSD, and I take great pride in this district and community.

Thanks to the voters, FSUSD is benefitting from the passage of  Measure J. The General Obligation bond will provide $249 million dollars to fund new and upgraded facilities. Since the average age of our school sites is forty years old, these facilities dollars will make a significant impact in upgrading and improving our school campuses.  These upgrades and improvements make our campuses safe, welcoming, and nurturing environments. Our district has also committed 1% of its general fund dollars to deferred maintenance so we can continue to keep our facilities maintained and clean.  A number of our school sites have already benefitted from new parking lots, playground fields, and increased safety with new fencing or security systems.

Our district continues to focus on improving student attendance. We have reduced our chronic absenteeism rate over the past few years.  We definitely want to continue to improve this statistic so that none of our students miss 10% or more of their school year for any reason. Students who are chronically absent have a greater risk of dropping out and not graduating from high school. Our district is committed to supporting parents and students who struggle with student attendance.

We are extremely excited by the many educational opportunities our district provides.  Our Early College High School will have its first graduating class this spring.  Our Independent Study program has doubled in size, as has our preschool and early learning programs.  We are also proud of our many honors and distinctions.

Our district does an amazing job of keeping our community informed.  Please follow me on Twitter @CoreyKrisC and our district on Twitter @FairfieldSuisun.  Please continue to visit my page often for weekly updates (Monday Recap).

Thank you for your interest in our premier district. #BePremier #BeKind #FSUSDLeadLAP

    See you in the community!
