Student and Family Services

WELCOME TO STUDENT AND FAMILY SERVICES!

It is the mission of the Student and Family Services Department to aid schools in providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where students are connected to their schools and staff are connected to their work environment. The Student and Family Services Department focuses on improving attendance and suspension rates for all students and expanding and enhancing the support provided to unsheltered youth and students within the foster care system.  

Our department coordinators the following supports aligned with our district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP):

  • Administer the California School Climate, Health & Learning Survey (CalSCHLS)

  • Support Student Attendance and Welfare

  • Coordination of Open Enrollment and Student Transfers

  • Student Records & Transcripts

  • Establish General Education Home and Hospital Services

  • Family engagement, parent education and training, and communication

  • Current news on the California Education Code and other laws affecting pupil services 

  • Implementation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

  • Maintain Student Records & Transcripts

  • Oversee Student Discipline and Safety Plans 

  • Family Resource Centers (FRC) that provide targeted support services and resources

  • Community Schools Referrals

  • Sex Offender Notifications

  • Provide support for Unsheltered Students and Foster Youth Home

The Family and Student Services Department aims to engage parents, families, and community partners through education, communication, and collaboration to promote student success (FSUSD LCAP, 2023).
