Completing the Universal Benefits Application can determine your family’s eligibility for SUN Bucks (Summer EBT). SUN Bucks helps families buy food for school-aged children, and the state will provide a payment per child of up to $120 for the summer of 2025. Even if you’re unsure of your eligibility, submitting an application ensures you won’t miss out on benefits.
Most children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals through a school meal application or Universal Benefits Application, or get CalFresh, CalWORKs, and/or Medi-Cal, are automatically enrolled. Children in foster care, and/or identified as experiencing homelessness are also categorically eligible and are automatically enrolled. Some children may need to sign up. Participating in SUN Bucks does not affect a family’s immigration status.
