The 2023-2024 school year is Kris Corey's eleventh year serving as the Superintendent of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. Kris has over thirty-eight years of experience in education. Her teaching career began when Fairfield-Suisun Unified recruited her from South Dakota to teach at the elementary level. After thirteen years in the classroom, Kris entered administration. During her career, she has worked as an assistant principal, elementary principal, Director of Elementary Education, and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.

Kris graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with Bachelor’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development. She received her Master’s Degree from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California, in Educational Leadership. She is a fierce advocate for students and believes every student should be career and college-ready upon graduation. Her leadership style is one of collaboration, and she has formed positive partnerships with community members and other leaders throughout the area.

Kris became a single mother when her twin girls were three years old and her son had just turned one. She attributes her education to saving her from a life of relying on social assistance. Because of this life experience, she is a strong advocate for educating students, providing them with the necessary support to be successful, and breaking the chain of poverty.
