18-19 Welcome Letter from the Principal

August 1, 2018

Dear Crescent Star Families,

I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready to join the Crescent community in Charting a Course to Success in the new school year.  The Crescent staff and I are looking forward to the first day of the new school so that we can begin our year of learning, growing, discovering and having fun together.

One of our goals at Crescent is to ensure that each student attends school every day.  We do realize that sometimes absences cannot be avoided due to health issues or other circumstances.  The only excused absences are illness (doctor’s note needed after three days) or a death in the family.  However, we also know that when a student misses too much school, it can cause them to fall behind academically.  In the FSUSD we pride ourselves on having high attendance rates and students who want to attend school daily.  If any student is absent without notification to our attendance office during the first week of school for more than 3 days, they will be removed from our class lists so please notify us if your student will be absent at the beginning of the year or at any other time they will be missing school. The school phone number is (707) 435-2771.  Please let us know if we can help to support you and your child so that they can be a successful Crescent Star student.  When students attend they achieve.

A few tips to help your Star Student(s) to be regular attendees at school:

  • Make sure they have a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
  • Lay out clothes and backpacks the night before.
  • Ensure your Star Student goes to school daily unless they are truly sick.
  • Avoid scheduling vacations or Dr. appointments when school is in session please.

This year we will have Back to School Night on August 29th at 6:00pm.  We look forward to seeing you there and hope you join us for a time to get to know your child’s teacher and learn about our school.

Parents may find electronic copies of the 2018-2019 Parent Student Handbook on the Parent section of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District's website at www.fsusd.org. The Parent Student Handbook is available online in English and Spanish.

We will be kicking off the first day of school with a special All Star Welcome Back to School Assembly on the playground at 8:25am.  Parents are welcome to join us for our daily Wellness Walk and Morning Fitness.

See you all soon!

Mrs. Phan and the Crescent All-Star Staff
