Welcome New Coordinator of Special Education
Ms. Eyres has been a part of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) for eight years. She would have been stepping into her ninth year as a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) for the Special Education Department. She began in 2008 as a Contractor Speech and Language Pathologist, and due to the camaraderie and experience she was encouraged to apply for a permanent position in which she became a FSUSD employee Prior to her employment with FSUSD Ms. Eyres was employed at Alpha Vista Therapy Services in Sunnyvale, CA, where she served as a SLP for three years, and prior she served as an SLP for the West Contra Costa Unified School District since 2001. While she transitions into the administrative side of Special Education she brings with her almost twenty years of experience working with the special education community both within the District and outside of the District.
One of Ms. Eyre’s previous administrators once asked her, “What’s best for the kids?”. Since the moment that question had been proposed to Ms. Eyres, it has served as the rule in which she measures her decisions. She looks forward to learning how to maximize student learning and experience, and looks forward to being able to assist other Teachers in supporting the needs of students.
Dr. Alan Enomoto, Associate Professor for the School of Education with Brandman University, spoke very highly of Ms. Eyre’s academic and personal accomplishments in his letter of recommendation:
“Ms. Eyres was a fantastic student and a pleasure to work with. Her Leadership Coach, late Contra Costa County Office of Education Superintendent, Dr. Joe Ovick, described Ms. Eyres as a “gem” and would be an absolutely wonderful school administrator. Her experience working as a Speech and Language Pathologist in Fairfield-Suisun has provided her with valuable insight to the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District’s culture and working successfully with all of the stakeholders in the district. I have absolutely no doubt that Mary Kathlyn is ready and would make a fabulous Special Education Coordinator. Specifically, her work ethic, knowledge of special education programs and laws, collaboration abilities, organizational and natural leadership skills would be a tremendous gift to the district.”
Ms. Eyres received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from University of the Philippines. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from California State University, East Bay, as well as her Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Brandman University. She holds an Administrative Services Credential, as well as a Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential.
The Fairfield-Suisun Administrative Team is excited to welcome Ms. Mary Kathlyn as Coordinator of Special Education. We look forward to watching her blossom into the wonderful administrator she will become. Congratulations Ms. Eyres!
