A Noteworthy Addition to Dover Academy Leadership

Amy Umar Ms. Amy Umar joins the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) leaving her current position as a Special Education teacher at Dover Academy for International Studies. Her assignments as a leader and teacher in music, academic intervention, middle school, and special education have prepared her to enter the world of elementary and middle school administration. Ms. Umar previously worked for FSUSD in 2015-2016 as an Elementary Release Music Teacher. She returns to California to fulfill the Assistant Principal position for Dover Academy of International Studies. 

Ms. Umar believes that throughout her years of teaching at all grade levels, she has been consistently guided by the passion to do what is right for all children. She has been exposed to and has served all grade levels, K-12. No matter where she is, she is a passionate member of both school and district community, and is eager to serve in any capacity to affect positive change. 

Ms. Amy Chavez, former Principal of Dover Academy of International Studies, included in Ms. Umar’s letter of recommendation:

I have had the pleasure to work with Ms. Umar for two years, while she served as a Musical Instructional Specialist and Teacher Release Organizer. I have been impressed by the high academic and moral standards Amy sets for herself and her students. She is committed to excellence and truly shows respect fort students’ intelligence by expecting them to always do their best. Amy is a woman of character, perseverance and commitment .”

Ms. Umar received her Bachelor of Arts in Music: Emphasis in Music Education and Vocal Performance Degree from Vanguard University in 1999. She received her Master of Arts in Education Degree from Vanguard in 2004, and later received her Master of Science in Educational Administration Services Degree in 2017 from National University. Ms. Umar holds a Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential, as well as a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential. 

We are excited that Ms. Amy Umar is returning to FSUSD in an administrative role. The Fairfield-Suisun Management Association is excited to recommend Ms. Amy Umar for the position of Assistant Principal at Dover Academy of International Studies.
