Laneia Grindle appointed Assistant Superintendent of Business Services

Fairfield, CA - The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Governing Board unanimously approved the appointment of Laneia Grindle to the role of Assistant Superintendent of Business Services at a board meeting held June 24th.

Following a rigorous recruitment and application process that considered candidates from across the state and nation, Grindle rose to the top of the candidate pool. Selected as one of four outstanding finalists, Grindle participated in a panel interview led by representatives from School Services of California. Insight and feedback was provided by representatives of FSUSD’s employee organizations, school sites, department leads, and the Bond Oversight Committee. After being thoroughly vetted with extensive reference checks and a final interview with the executive cabinet, Grindle was recommended for appointment.

Grindle joined the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in 2002 as a District Accountant. In 2004, Grindle was appointed Director of Fiscal Services, a position she has held for the past 17 years.

“Laneia will make an exceptional Assistant Superintendent of Business Services thanks to her long history with FSUSD, her transparency, and her extensive knowledge of the departments she will oversee. Her attentiveness to ensuring that we honor our fiduciary responsibility to those we serve is impeccable. I can think of no better candidate to appoint than one that so perfectly embodies what it means to be made in FSUSD.”

- Kris Corey, Superintendent FSUSD

A testament to her expertise and initiative, Grindle has already seen the district through nine consecutive years of no audit findings, two successful General Obligation Bonds, and the flawless development of numerous Local Control and Accountability Plans. Her knowledge of budget and fiscal accounting is expansive and truly unmatched.

In supporting her appointment to this new role, exiting Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Michelle Henson noted that Grindle’s expertise with budget development and ability to strategically pivot from financial challenges make her an absolute asset to the district.

In her new role, Grindle will serve on the Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet and will be responsible for the oversight of the business services, fiscal services, purchasing, facilities and construction, maintenance and operations, child nutrition services, transportation, and technology department.

“My objective is to foster strong collaborative relationships with all district departments in order to ensure that the use of funding made available to the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District honors our commitment to students, staff, and the community that we serve.”
