Fairfield - Fifty-three Cadets took the long walk last week, marking the milestone achievement of yet another Public Safety Academy class to graduate 100% of their seniors. On Friday, June 10, 2022, family and friends gathered in a packed Willow Hall of the Fairfield Civic Center to witness their cadets take the next steps on their journey through life.
Various speakers referenced the obvious reality that their high school years were unlike any other years at the Academy. Indeed, the same could be said for every school in Fairfield.
However, at the Public Safety Academy, cadets recite the PSA Creed, which includes the statement, “I know my success in school and in life is dependent upon my own effort.”

Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Superintendent Kris Corey acknowledged this when she remarked to the new graduates that these efforts “are a part of your core.”
“Committing to the commitment, the PSA Creed, and graduating takes hard work, patience, and perseverance.” Corey continued. “The PSA graduates have done just that.”
Class President Nolan Caragan reflected on what recent graduates would feel the day after graduation. Caragan suggested that one thought might be about donning the PSA uniform or shining shoes for formation, “I think not!” Caragan described his class as close as family, which included “some of the most good-hearted people” he would meet in this life. So much so that the thought of spending time together during summer was welcomed. Some cadets weren’t taking a summer break before beginning the next journey. One such graduate, Benjamin Her was said to start bootcamp for the US Army on June 28, 2022.
One Cadet graduate entering the ranks of Highest Honors for earning a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or above reflected on his high school experience. “Being a part of school events were the best highlights.” Victor Chavez Corona continued, “I will remember [those] for years to come.” Corona, also PSA Salutatorian, plans to attend Solano Community College working towards an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and hopes to secure a fulfilling job that can support a family.
