Student with her horse

Fairfield, CA - The Rodriguez High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter is proud to announce the chapter’s first-ever Regional Proficiency winner, Jessica Lopez-Ruiz, for her outstanding work in Equine Science - Placement. Jessica's supervised agricultural experience at Iron Rock Dressage Ranch has allowed her to develop specialized skills working with high-value dressage competition horses.

Jessica's proficiency in equine science has earned her recognition at the local and regional levels. She will now compete at the state level for recognition at the State Conference in Ontario in March.  This marks a historic moment for Rodriguez FFA as they have never had a proficiency winner and look forward to showcasing more members in the future.

The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who have excelled in their supervised agricultural experiences, demonstrating their commitment and dedication to the industry. The Agricultural Proficiency Awards are recognized nationally, with students competing in nearly 50 areas, from agricultural communications to wildlife management.

Rodriguez FFA Advisor Julia Brewer said “The agriculture department and I are extremely proud of Jessica’s dedication and her amazing achievement! We can not wait to see what she accomplishes in the coming months with this project.”
