Fairfield, CA - After a three-year hiatus, the Shadow Day program has returned to Rodriguez High School.  The program involves eighth-grade students from B. Gale Wilson Middle School, Green Valley Middle School, Oakbrook Academy of the Arts, and Suisun Valley K-8 School visiting Rodriguez High School to experience a day in the life of a high school student.

The Shadow Days program started in 2017 as a way to get middle school students excited for high school and initially only included Green Valley Middle School students. Over time, the event has grown to include middle schools and K-8 schools from across the district. The first group of eighth-graders was welcomed to Rodriguez High School on Wednesday, March 22, and different groups will visit every Wednesday for the next few weeks.

The Shadow Days program is designed to give eighth-grade students a glimpse into high school life and help them prepare for the transition to high school. During their visit, students are paired up with a high school student and have the opportunity to attend classes, meet teachers and staff, and participate in various activities.

"We are thrilled to bring back the Shadow Day program," said Principal Kristen Cherry. "The program has been a great success in the past, and we are excited to offer this opportunity to FSUSD eighth-graders. It's a great way for students to experience high school and prepare for the next step in their academic journey."
