FAIRFIELD, CA - On Wednesday, April 19th, Fairfield High School held its 2nd annual Science Night, featuring the Living Earth Biology students' tribute to Charles Darwin. The event was a Science-themed museum and activity event which showcased the students' scientific knowledge and skills.

Over six weeks, students researched existing organisms in the Galapagos Islands and explained how their physical characteristics help them survive in their environment. They used evidence to demonstrate how their organism and environment evolved over time due to changes in the environment, considering the biotic and abiotic factors involved. They then constructed an evidence-based explanation for how their organism and the environment evolved over time based on changes in the environment.  These activities developed their communication and scientific inquiry skills.

The event featured over 400 Fairfield High 9th graders, who collaborated with their peers to construct poster boards, interactive slideshows, and three-dimensional models from recycled materials, which were proudly displayed to over 180 community members in attendance. The event was open to family, friends, and incoming 9th-grade students from across the district.

Rebecca Campion, Fairfield High School Principal, remarked, "The Science Night showcased the significance of project-based learning and provided a fun and educational opportunity to come together as a community. We are incredibly proud of our students' scientific accomplishments and hope that they continue to pursue their passions in Science."
