A line of graduates and a line of preschoolers

FAIRFIELD, CA - On May 17, 2023, Fairfield High School (FHS) students participated in their annual “Grad Walks,” a heartwarming event that brings graduating seniors to FSUSD elementary schools. This cherished tradition aims to inspire and excite younger students as they witness the seniors in their graduation regalia.

The “Grad Walks'' have always been a treasured tradition at Fairfield High School, and it was a long-awaited return to the heartwarming event. This year’s event was coordinated by Fairfield High School Leadership Teacher Kelsie Savko. The last time Fairfield High School participated at local elementary schools was in 2019. This year's event held special significance for some of the seniors who fondly remembered witnessing Fairfield High seniors parade around when they were elementary school students themselves.

During their visits to Laurel Creek Elementary School and David Weir Preparatory School, the FHS seniors took the opportunity to introduce themselves and offer words of encouragement to the students. As the event concluded, students from David Weir and Laurel Creek had the chance to engage in conversations with the seniors and present them with handmade gifts as tokens of appreciation.

"We couldn't be prouder of our seniors," expressed Principal Rebecca Campion. "They faced

the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic head-on and showed incredible resilience. The “Grad Walks” truly showcased their determination and character."

These exceptional seniors have exciting plans for their future. Jimmy Green will be playing football at Pacific University, while Nouran Maayeh is heading to UCLA. Fairfield High School's ASB president is pursuing a teaching career at Sacramento State, and Jasmine Jones will study business at American River College. Tamia Featherstone plans to attend Napa Valley for nursing, and Tayler Foreman will study nursing at Sacramento State. Razel Sardeng has chosen SFSU for nursing, while Amaris Hernandez will serve in the Air Force, and Pierce Thongpeth will dedicate himself to the Marine Corps.

The annual “Grad Walks" not only serve as an inspiring tradition but also foster a sense of community. They provide younger students with role models to admire and aspire to become. Fairfield High School is committed to continuing this fantastic tradition and looks forward to its future impact.
