FAIRFIELD, CA - On May 25, 2023, students from three Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) high schools participated in the 22nd Annual EYE Light Film Festival. This year’s event, hosted at Rodriguez High School, celebrated the creative achievements of young filmmakers from Armijo High School, Rodriguez High School, and Fairfield High School.

The Annual EYE Light Film Festival was founded twenty-two years ago by Leonard Carillo as part of the charter for Buckingham Charter Magnet High School in Vacaville, California. This year's festival received an impressive total of sixty-four film submissions, showcasing the immense talent and dedication of the participating students. Thirty-four films were chosen to premiere at the festival, captivating a large audience comprised of students, families, FSUSD staff, and community members.

The EYE Light Film Festival showcased a diverse range of genres and technical expertise, honoring the exceptional achievements of FSUSD’s budding filmmakers. Fairfield High School students shone brightly, taking home awards in multiple categories, including Best Horror, Fabrication, Cinematography, Stunts, Editor, Sound F/X, Visual F/X, and Motion Graphics.

Armijo High School students demonstrated their exceptional acting skills and storytelling prowess, winning accolades in categories such as Supporting Actor & Actress, Fight Choreography, Screenplay, Plot Twist, Seinfeld Award, Bruce Campbell Award, PSA, and People's Choice.

Rodriguez High School students showcased their exceptional talent across a wide spectrum of categories, receiving awards for Best Picture, Outstanding Personal Achievement, Make-up, Hair & Costume Design, Production Logo, Animation, Voice Over, Character Design, Storyboard Design, Animative, Trailer, Action, Comedy, Director, Drama, Documentary, Mockumentary, Film Noir, Poster, and Best Actor & Actress.

Lynn Larsen, a teacher at Rodriguez High School, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, "The 22nd Annual EYE Light Film Festival was an incredible success, providing a fun and enriching experience for all the participating students. It was a joy to witness their creativity and dedication come to life on the big screen and we look forward to next year’s event!"
