Fairfield, CA - The Fairfield-Suisun Adult School is excited to share the completion of its first-ever Clinical Medical Assistant for English Learners program, marking a significant step forward in adult education and career training. This accomplishment highlights the dedication and hard work of both students and educators, showing the power of collaboration and commitment in achieving academic and professional success.

Guided by teacher Kenia Macias, students undertook a 12-week English as a Second Language (ESL) preparation course, equipping them with essential language skills for success in a medical context. Building on this foundation, participants then transitioned into a rigorous 10-week Medical Assistant training program. This training program is designed to equip students with the expertise needed to excel in the healthcare sector and was delivered by instructional partners at CALRegional Fairfield. Following the completion of the 12-week ESL preparation course and the 10-week Medical Assistant training program, students completed their state certification examinations.

The Medical Assistant for English Learners program is part of a new initiative in Adult Education to provide free short-term career training opportunities for English learners. After the successful completion of the program, Fairfield-Suisun Adult School applied for and was awarded The IET-ELL Grant from the Employment Development Department of California, funding the program for the next three years.

Prospective students interested in joining the next cohort are encouraged to contact the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School at 707.421.4155.
