Fairfield, CA - On Friday, December 15, 2023, students at David A. Weir Preparatory Academy came together for their 9th Annual Holiday Hoopla event, demonstrating the spirit of giving and community support. Each year, the students contribute by bringing in monetary donations to aid a selected charitable organization. This year, the chosen beneficiary was Meals on Wheels of Solano County.
Starting at the end of November, the staff at David A. Weir began collecting donations for the Holiday Hoopla event. Over the course of two weeks, students pooled their resources, resulting in a total donation of $1747 to Meals on Wheels of Solano County.
The highlight of the Holiday Hoopla event was a school-wide race around the campus. All students from different grades were invited to participate, with those contributing a dollar or more receiving a running bib and the chance to win exciting raffle prizes.
Principal Alison Guernsey expressed her thoughts on the significance of the annual event, saying, "The Holiday Hoopla is a special tradition at David Weir. It brings our entire school community together, allowing us to support a local charity while enjoying an afternoon of racing around campus. The positive energy generated during this event truly brightens the mood on campus, and we are already looking forward to next year."
