A group of students holding trashbags for community clean up

Fairfield, CA – The Fairfield High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Cadets demonstrated their commitment to community service by undertaking a special project on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Twenty-five student cadets, accompanied by three additional high school student volunteers, participated in a community cleanup effort along East Atlantic Avenue and the area in front of Fairfield High School.

Every two months, the JROTC Cadets dedicate their time to community service projects as part of their ongoing commitment to giving back to their community and school. This initiative, a component of the Fairfield Adopt-A-Street Program, showcases the cadets' dedication to environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.

The project provided an opportunity for the cadets to actively engage in the upkeep of their local environment, promoting cleanliness and community pride. Equipped with gloves, trash bags, pick-up sticks, and reflector vests provided by the Fairfield Department of Public Works, the cadets diligently worked to remove trash and debris from the designated areas.

Major Frank Aguon Jr, reflecting on the significance of the project, remarked,  “This community service activity, a component of the Fairfield Adopt-A-Street Program, showcases the cadets' dedication to environmental stewardship and civic responsibility. The cadets appreciate the opportunity to serve their community, and hope to continue positively impacting our local community through initiatives like this in the future."
