Fairfield, CA - Students from Armijo and Fairfield High Schools showcased their talents and skills in the recent SkillsUSA Regional Competition, earning top honors and securing multiple spots in the upcoming state competition in early April. The contest, an event organized by SkillsUSA, brings together high schools, trade schools, community colleges, and career programs from across the Bay Area and beyond.

 Armijo High School's teams emerged triumphant in several categories, with standout performances by Julian Soto, Rafael Garcia Rodriguez, and Aeneas Gibson, who secured gold medals in Audio/Radio Production, and Gwyneth Lim, Michael Alcantara, and Aidan Dessenberger, who clinched gold medals in the Career Pathways Showcase - Arts & Communications Cluster. Additionally, Rafael Lopez, Luis Novoa, Julian Saeteurn, and Cruz Aparicio-Zamudio earned bronze medals in Video News Production, while Matthew Madrigal, Gabrielle Aguilar, Everson Reyes-Rivas, and Wendy Heredia qualified for State in Video News Production.

 "This achievement is truly remarkable! Nearly half of our contestants have earned a well-deserved victory, including 2 Gold Medals, one Bronze, and one 4th place qualifier. They've set the standard for excellence and leadership within their career pathways, now preparing to compete against over 4000 high schools statewide," said advisor and teacher Mikhail Borisovsky.

 Meanwhile, Fairfield High School students also made a significant impact in the competition. Charlene Jade Dones, Francisco Barragan Chavez, Estevan Vaca Mozqueda, and Cesar Morfin Chavez, Digital Video Production students, showcased their talents in the Digital Cinema category. Their films, "I'm Going to Be a Star" and "Wired Dreams", exemplified creativity and ingenuity, addressing the prompt "Dream Beyond the Struggle".

 Edward Fee, Fairfield High Digital Video Production teacher and advisor, commended the students' achievements, stating, "These students have not only demonstrated their technical skills but have also crafted compelling narratives, raising the bar for young filmmakers."

 The SkillsUSA Regional Contest showcased the talent and dedication of Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) students across various career fields. As they prepare for the state championships in April, we wish all the contestants the best of luck in the upcoming competition!
