Fairfield, CA - On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, members of Armijo High School International Club captivated students and staff during lunchtime with a presentation about Ramadan, shedding light on the significance of this sacred month observed by Muslims worldwide. The event, held in the spirit of cultural understanding and appreciation, showcased the diverse traditions surrounding Ramadan.
The presentation, led by four Muslim students - Fajlina Mohamed, Dalal Saeed, Sahar Khalid Ahmad, and Nadheera Ahamed Ameen - offered insights into the observance of Ramadan in various regions, including India, Afghanistan, and Yemen, the home countries of the presenters. Through a captivating slide show, melodic music, and tasty food samples, the presenters provided a comprehensive overview of Ramadan practices and customs.
The Armijo International Club members demonstrated the rituals and significance of Ramadan, fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the traditions cherished by millions of Muslims worldwide. "I liked the variety of foods! We use a lot of similar ingredients but are prepared differently. It shows a variety of food," remarked student Mariana Leon, reflecting on the diverse culinary offerings shared during the presentation.
"I love seeing this. It is beautiful," added teacher Kaitlyn Hernandez, expressing appreciation for the cultural richness and inclusivity displayed by the Armijo International Club.
