RE: New Instructional Materials Available for Public Review
This memo provides information regarding the public review of instructional materials in accordance with Board Policy 6161.1, Selection and Evaluation of Instructional Materials and Regulation 6161.1, Selection and Evaluation of Instructional Materials, which includes making materials available for public inspection at the district office.
Each year new instructional materials are submitted to the Governing Board for adoption after initial review by various levels of staff and the public. Two books are recommended for high school adoption for fall 2024:
A Brief Introduction to Criminal Justice: Practice & Process (CTE pathway at the Public Safety Academy)
Blackout (supplemental novel for 12th grade ELA)
Police in America, 3rd Edition (CTE pathway at the Public Safety Academy)
A public viewing of the instructional materials recommended for adoption will be held at the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Office from April 15 to May 14, 2024 in the office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The materials will then be presented at the May 16, 2024 Board meeting for review and potential adoption.
