Early College High School students showcase their talents
On May 9th, Early College High School hosted an expansive Senior Project Showcase. The event featured seniors sharing their capstone projects–a celebration of the students’ innovation, commitment, and academic growth throughout the year–and a reflection of their readiness for post-high school endeavors.

From creative arts and community service to career exploration and beyond, these student-led projects highlighted passion, purpose, and incredible talent. Younger grades, parents, families and staff toured the showcase, inspiring future classes and celebrating the hard work of our seniors. It was an amazing way to honor their journey and the bright futures ahead.

Armijo High students take Napa/Solano Trades Fair by storm
On May 15th, the Career Technical Education (CTE) classes from Armijo High, along with Sam Yeto, Workability, and ROTC students, attended the Napa/Solano Trades Fair. 78 students - about 15% of the total attendees - were Armijo students, an impressive showing for the school.

Students were able to speak with many industry professionals and engage in hands-on experiences as well. This included in-depth activities such as scaling an upright iron beam, heavy equipment exercises, virtual reality experiences, and more.

“The students in attendance loved the event and so many were excited to speak with professionals in the trades,” said Tom Newman, Armijo High CTE Welding Teacher.

PSA senior cadets go on “Steps to Solano” field trip
In partnership with Solano Community College (SCC), senior cadets from Public Safety Academy (PSA) recently took a major step toward their futures by participating in a field trip, part of a new initiative called “Steps to Solano”. The event gave PSA seniors the opportunity to attend a new student orientation, explore the SCC campus, and meet one-on-one with college counselors to build personalized education plans.

The experience is designed to help students make a seamless transition from high school to college and ensure they’re registering for the right general education classes. With a long-term goal of transferring to a four-year university, engaging in hands-on planning helped demystify the process and build excitement for what lies ahead.

“The Seniors were grateful that they were able to visit Solano, meet with a counselor to map out their classes, and tour the campus,” said one staff member. “For many of them, it was their first time being on a college campus. They had fun and didn’t want to leave!”

Danica, the College and Career Technician who helped organize the event, emphasized the lasting impact of the experience: “This was a very successful and fun day. I am thankful to the Solano Counseling and Outreach Department for working with me to facilitate this for our Seniors. After visiting SCC, our Seniors were able to participate in Priority Registration for new students — which is huge, because some general education classes fill up fast. I look forward to continuing our partnership with Solano.”
