Crystal Middle School Mural

The mosaic mural - located at the corner of Pintail Drive and Walters Road - continues to inspire the community

Fairfield, CA (December 18, 2025)  – Earlier this fall, Crystal Middle School, in partnership with the City of Suisun City and their Beautification Advisory Committee, proudly unveiled its student-created mosaic mural – a collaborative art installation created alongside local artists Ross Holzman and Rachel Brown, with support from community leader Chuck Kingeter and other community members in partnership with the Create Peace Project. Though the dedication ceremony took place in October, the mural continues to stand as a powerful symbol of creativity, unity, and belonging for the Crystal Middle School community.

Located at the corner of Pintail Drive and Walters Road, the mosaic reflects Crystal Middle School’s Five Pillars, which guide the school’s culture and commitment to students. Each tile was designed and placed by students, representing their creativity, resilience, and pride in contributing to a project larger than themselves.

“This mural is far more than a piece of art—it tells the story of our students and the values we hold close at Crystal Middle School,” said Principal Karina Colantoni. “Every tile was shaped by our students’ hands and hearts, and together they reflect hope, unity, and a deep sense of belonging. We are proud that this artwork will continue to inspire our community for years to come.”

Superintendent Jennifer Sachs emphasized the importance of student voice and community partnership, stating, “This mosaic is a beautiful example of what happens when students are empowered to create and communities come together to support them. It reflects the heart of Crystal Middle School and the strength of partnerships with Suisun City and local artists. We encourage families and community members to take time over winter break to visit and enjoy this meaningful installation.”

As winter break approaches, Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District invites families, residents, and visitors to drive by the corner of Pintail Drive and Walters Road and experience the mosaic mural firsthand. The installation remains a lasting testament to what’s possible when schools, families, artists, and community partners collaborate to uplift student creativity and pride.
