Recently, the Fairfield-Rodriguez FFA chapter competed in the Career Development Events (CDEs) Colusa RedHawk FFA Online Contest. Stretching from September to December, the chapter competed in four contests throughout the series. The online contest brought together FFA chapters from across California, testing students through a series of team competitions and individual sub-contests designed to mirror real-world agricultural careers. Three teams showcased their knowledge and skills by representing the Fairfield-Rodriguez FFA in this event: Floral, Farm Power, and Veterinary Science (Vet Sci).
The Farm Power team had an outstanding showing, earning third place overall in the contest. Individually, Jack Kemble also placed third overall, contributing significantly to the team’s success. The Farm Power team earned numerous team and sub-contest awards, highlighting their strong understanding of agricultural farm equipment, general knowledge, and safety.
The Floral team also performed exceptionally well, placing third overall in their competition. Savannah DeMartile earned second overall high individual, demonstrating excellence in floral knowledge and identification of flowers, plants, and tools. The team secured numerous contest and sub-contest wins, reflecting their hard work, preparation, and dedication.
Earning fourth place overall in the contest, the Veterinary Science team also excelled. The team placed fifth in the identification portion, demonstrating strong knowledge of animal health, equipment, and veterinary practices. Their results highlight the effort and commitment our members have made toward pursuing careers in animal science and the veterinary fields.
“We are so proud of how the FFA chapter has done in their competitions,” said Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “These students represent some of the best of our Career Technical Education (CTE) programs across FSUSD.”
With the CDE contest season just kicking off, these early contests are extremely beneficial for Fairfield-Suisun FFA members. They provide valuable experience, help identify areas for improvement, and build confidence. As the season continues, the future will certainly hold great things for these students!
