Fairfield, CA (March 11, 2026) – Fairfield Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) is proud to announce that Sem Yeto High School has been selected for the distinguished California Continuation Education Association (CCEA) Plus Model High School Award, a statewide honor recognizing excellence, innovation, and outstanding student support in continuation and alternative education.

California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced earlier today that 59 high schools across the state are being honored with the award. The Model High School designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate exemplary practices in meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students while preparing them for long-term success.

“This recognition belongs to our entire staff, and reflects the exceptional work happening daily at our site,” said Principal John McMorris. “Their dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to our students are what make Sem Yeto such a special place. Every teacher, counselor, and support staff member played a critical role in earning this honor, and I am incredibly proud of the team effort behind this achievement.”

“Sem Yeto High School’s selection for the Model Continuation High School Award is a powerful affirmation of the extraordinary work being done to support students who benefit from alternative pathways,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “This honor reflects the leadership of Principal McMorris and the dedication of the entire staff.”

As part of the recognition process, Sem Yeto High School will participate in the CCEA Plus Annual Conference, where schools earning the Model High School designation will be formally honored at the Model School Gala Award Dinner. This is the same conference that Principal John McMorris and the Sem Yeto leadership team will share the school’s remarkable two-year transformation during a workshop, as FSUSD recently announced in this March 6, 2026 press release.
