Bulldog Book Bash and Art Splash connect storytelling, learning and imagination
Fairfield, CA (May 5, 2026) – The recent Bulldog Book Bash and Art Splash at Dover transformed campus into a vibrant celebration of literacy and creativity, bringing students, families, and staff together for an evening where reading and the arts were the focus. Designed as an interactive literacy night, the event invited students to travel from room to room, engaging in hands-on activities that connected storytelling and learning.
Principal Vickie Johnson shared: “The Bulldog Book Bash and Art Splash is about creating joyful learning experiences where students see literacy come alive. When families are engaged and students are excited about reading and creating, it builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning.”
A special highlight included a room hosted by one of FSUSD’s key community partners, the Solano County Library. The evening concluded in the MPR, where every student selected a free new book to take home - reinforcing the message that literacy is both accessible and essential.
The Bulldog Bash has been a beloved annual event, and this year the school added the Art Splash, elevating the experience even further. Student artwork from throughout the year was showcased in the MPR, and the celebration continued the following day with a gallery walk, allowing all students to view and appreciate their peers’ creativity.
“These types of opportunities highlight the power of connecting literacy with the arts,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “When students are given the chance to participate in events like this with educators and family by their side, it deepens engagement and strengthens our learning community.”
With strong attendance and overwhelmingly positive feedback, the combined Bulldog Book Bash and Art Splash is sure to be a new standout event at Dover. There is no doubt it’s a powerful example of how FSUSD schools are fostering a love of reading while celebrating student voice, creativity, and community connection.
