Generation Wealth Program offered throughout the district to support financial literacy

Fairfield, CA (June 23, 2026) – This last school year, students around the district had the opportunity to participate in educational programs to support financial literacy. In spring, students at Rodriguez High School gained valuable real-world financial skills through Generation Wealth, a financial education program presented by Travis Credit Union.

Designed to help students prepare for life after high school, this program focuses on closing financial knowledge gaps and equipping young people with the tools they need to make informed financial decisions. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, students explored topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, credit, and long-term financial planning.

The program uses real-life scenarios to help students understand how everyday financial choices can impact their future. Whether students plan to attend college, pursue career training, enter the workforce, or follow another path after graduation, Generation Wealth provides practical knowledge that can support their success and financial well-being.

"Programs like Generation Wealth help students connect what they're learning today to the opportunities and responsibilities they'll encounter tomorrow," said Rodriguez High School Principal Kristen Cherry. "We are grateful for partnerships like this, as well as the leadership of Danielle Thompkins to make the event a reality, so our students can be empowered with the confidence and knowledge to make smart financial decisions."

"One of our goals as a district is to ensure students graduate prepared for adult life,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. "By igniting students’ critical thinking skills through programs like this, we are supporting our young people to build a strong foundation for their future."

With a new California State law effective for the class of 2031, requiring a semester-long personal finance education course for high school graduation, FSUSD is already ahead of the curve, providing students with meaningful financial literacy opportunities. While Rodriguez High School hosted the program this spring, similar opportunities are offered throughout the year at other FSUSD schools, helping students develop the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate important financial decisions throughout their lives.

FSUSD thanks Travis Credit Union for its continued partnership and for supporting student success beyond the classroom by promoting financial literacy and independence.
