High school students pose for a picture with construction workers.

Fairfield, CA - TEAMWRKX Construction and BMW of Fairfield hosted a community outreach event on September 14, 2022 at BMW of Fairfield's new dealership construction site. TEAMWRKX Construction, BMW of Fairfield, and other participating community partners welcomed students from Armijo High School's Building Trades classes along with students from Vacaville, Will C. Wood, Napa, and American Canyon high schools to the construction site of Fairfield's BMW new and improved dealership on Auto Mall Parkway.

The event allowed high school students interested in the construction and engineering trades to tour the new building and construction site. Students also had the opportunity to meet with electricians, carpenters, roofers, and other tradespeople from the construction and engineering sectors.

"It was such a wonderful experience to give to my crew members (students)!  Seeing so many trades, in real-time, represented on the same job site was exactly what they needed to see." said Matt Davis, Armijo High School's CTE Building Trades/Woodshop teacher. "To seethe trades up close and in person was, I believe, paramount for their education."

The outreach event also included a time for attendees to connect with subcontractors and community leaders to discuss the wide variety of career possibilities available to high school students after graduation.

Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District proudly offers a variety of Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathways across four secondary schools in the district. These pathways provide students with a career-ready sequence of courses that equips them with vital life skills, appropriate to the ever-changing society.

Armijo High School's Building and Trades class is just one example of the CTE courses available to FSUSD students. These courses give students hands-on experience in a work-ready environment and prepare them for post-graduate employment in a trade.
