Beam signing ceremony at Anna Kyle Elementary took place in April
Fairfield, CA (July 24, 2025) – Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) celebrated a major step forward in the transformation of Anna Kyle Elementary School. In April, students, staff, and community members gathered to celebrate the “topping out” of the school’s new administration and kindergarten building—marking the placement of the final wood beam in the structure.
Attendees at the ceremony, including students, signed the final beam before it was lifted into place. As the beam rose into the air, cheers erupted from the students watching below—symbolizing not just a construction milestone, but a moment of pride for the entire community. These upgrades were made possible thanks to local voter support through Measure S, a school facilities bond measure passed in 2022, along with vital matching funds from the State of California.
“This event was about more than steel and construction,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “It was about community, legacy, and investing in our children’s futures.”
Anna Kyle Elementary serves approximately 750 students in grades TK–5. The 10,775-square-foot project, expected to be completed later this summer, brings a host of improvements to the campus, including:
A new administration and kindergarten building
Redesigned parking lot and drop-off area to improve safety and traffic flow
Tree-lined promenade and soft landscaping to create a welcoming campus entrance
“Learning Street” collaboration area in the kindergarten wing, blending indoor and outdoor learning
Modern, student-centered design focused on comfort, interaction, and flexibility
The design also pays homage to the school’s namesake, Anna Kyle, who taught music in Solano County for nearly four decades. Interior colors and patterns have been selected to reflect themes of musical harmony, rhythm, and movement—connecting the past to the future in a meaningful way. The new facilities are expected to open in time for the 2026–27 school year.
