FSUSD Family Resource Centers chosen as this year’s recipients of the money raised
Fairfield, CA (January 5, 2026) – David Weir K–8 continued its beloved annual tradition with this year’s Holiday Hoopla, combining school spirit, friendly competition, and helping others in need. Donations and event registrations began on Monday, December 1, 2025, and by the time the final heats wrapped up before winter break, the school community had raised $1,947.52 to benefit the chosen recipient - FSUSD’s Family Resource Centers.
The highlight of the event is a school-wide race around the campus, where students from Kindergarten through 8th grade run for the chance to be named the fastest in their class and grade-level band. Cheers echoed throughout the campus as students encouraged one another, showcasing both determination and Wildcat pride.
“The Holiday Hoopla is a wonderful annual tradition at David Weir,” said Principal Alison Guersney. “Our entire school community rallies around a single organization, and the positive energy on campus truly brightens the mood of the day.”
Principal Guernsey also highlighted the teamwork behind the scenes that makes the event come to life. “This wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our 8th grade teacher, Ms. Rodgers, and all of our 8th grade scholars who help run this school-wide event,” she said.
Superintendent Jennifer Sachs praised the impact of this annual tradition: “The Holiday Hoopla is a powerful example of how our schools foster compassion, leadership, and connection with their community,” Sachs said. “By supporting our Family Resource Centers, David Weir students are directly helping ensure families across FSUSD have access to critical resources during the holiday season and beyond.”
Year after year, David Weir’s Holiday Hoopla continues to be more than a race. It’s a celebration of generosity, leadership, and the power of a school community coming together for good.
