Children who turn 5, with birth dates from September 2, 2017 - September 1, 2018, can register for kindergarten placement for the 2023-2024 school year.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is available for students who turn 5 after the Kindergarten cut-off date. Children who turn 5 between September 2, 2023, and April 2, 2024 are eligible for TK in the 23-24 school year which begins on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
The FSUSD Governing Board has granted Early TK (ETK) placement eligibility for younger students outside of the TK requirements who turn 5 within the school year if space is available. ETK is only granted after all of the official state “qualified” TK students within the district have been placed. ETK eligibility requires students to have birth dates between 4/3/19 and 6/7/19.
At a parent’s request, an ETK age-qualified child will be added to the district-managed ETK WAITING LIST for TK classroom placement consideration. This may occur after the school year has already started. The Elementary Education Department directly notifies ETK parents by phone, if space becomes available. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of ETK placement.
