Computers and Technology

Basic Computer Skills - Starts February 5   Click Here To Register

Ready to get started? This course is designed for those who have little or no computer experience.

Intermediate Computer Skills - Starts January 10  Click Here To Register

For students who have mastered basic computer skills, FSAS offers the Intermediate Computer Skills as a next step for skill development and job preparation. This Intermediate Computer Skills class offers students the opportunity to earn industry recognized certificates through Northstar Digital Literacy in a lab based setting with the support of an in person instructor. Students may select the topics they would like to focus on to customize their learning experience. Students may repeat the class if they wish to focus on new topics and earn additional certificates. Students also have access to typing certificates and a half our open typing lab from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM prior to class. 

Introduction to Microsoft Excel - Starts January 23  Click Here to Register

Learn the basics of spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. Students will learn the necessary skills to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft Excel worksheets, add charts and graphs, perform simple mathematical functions, learn different functions and how to sort data.

Professional Trades

Forklift Operator - January 27  Click Here to Register

Become a certified forklift operator. Class 4 and OSHA compliant training. The class includes safety training followed by hands-on operation. At the conclusion of the class, students will receive forklift certification. 

Custodial Training - Starts January 16  Click Here to Register

Students will learn the basics in custodial operations in preparation for an entry level position. Topics include: Chemical Safety, Cleaning types, Basic Floor Care, And More!

Electrical Basics - Starts January 9  Click Here to Register

This four week, lab based course covers the basic principles of electrical safety. Students will participate in three hands-on labs to gain basic skills:

  • Ceiling Fan Installation

  • Three-way Switches

  • Can Light Installation

Introduction to Electrical - Starts February 6   Click Here to Register

This program is designed to provide an overview of basic electrical knowledge and skills. Students will learn the following skills:

  • Basic Electrical Wiring 

  • EMT Bending (box offset, 30* offset, 4 point saddle, 3 point saddle, 90* stub, back to back 90* and the kick)

  • Sub Panel Installation 

  • Interior Wall Basic Wiring (Romex, MC Cable, Flex)

Advanced Electrical - Starts February 6   Click Here to Register

This intermediate level class is recommended for students who have completed the Introduction to Electrical program or have prior training or experience in the field. Students will learn the following skills:

  • Conduit Bending Techniques

  • Common Conduit Bends

  • Basic Wiring Techniques

  • Sub Panel Installation and Hook Up to Main Panel

  • Romex, MC Cable and Flex Uses and Installation

Introduction to Welding - Starts February 7   Click Here to Register

This course will provide an introduction to the art of welding. Topics will include:

  • Safety

  • Tools of the trade

  • Introductory welding techniques

  • Welding terminology

  • Weld types

  • Material joining processes

Materials and safety equipment will be provided. Students of all experience levels are welcome.

  • Electrode Selection and Characteristics

  • Troubleshooting SMAW Systems

HVAC: EPA 608 - Starts January 8   Click Here to Register

Students receive training to prepare them for the EPA 608 HVAC Universal License Certification Examination, which is a milestone in launching an HVAC career.

Health

CPR - January 27  Click Here to Register

This course covers First Aid and CPR essentials for adults, children and infants. Students will receive an EMS Safety Certification card that is good for two years upon completion of the course.

Certified Nursing Assistant - Starts April 8  Click Here to Register

This well- recognized program with a highly successful pass rate for CNA certification is a 250-hour course that teaches basic nursing care and includes comprehensive classroom instruction (6 weeks) and supervised clinical training (5 weeks) in local Long Term Care Facilities. This course is approved by the California Department of Public Health.

For students who wish to start a career as a paraeducator, Fairfield-Suisun Adult School offers the Paraeducator Exam. Successful passage of the Paraeducator exam satisfies the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act and allows individuals to work as a paraeducator in public education settings.

Start your own business or add to your current business working as a Notary Public.  As a public servant commissioned by the Secretary of State, the Notary Public protects the integrity of legal and personal documents.  This one-day course will teach you everything you need to know to pass the state notary exam and be a successful Notary Public. 

Work Ready Certificate - Starts February 27 Click Here to  Register

The Work-Ready Certificate Program for students is a 5-week workshop providing over twenty hours of work-related instruction and support. The program helps students locate job opportunities, learn interview skills and develop a resume. Workshop topics include: time management, resume writing,  job search and application cover letters, work ethic, customer service, teamwork, appropriate dress, interview techniques, and mock interviews. The Work-Ready Certificate program is coordinated by the Solano County Office of Education in partnership with local Chambers of Commerce and is presented in school districts throughout Solano County.
