Fairfield, CA - Donning Santa Hats and wearing wide smiles, nearly 200 musicians performed in front of a packed house at Green Valley Middle School on Wednesday, December 13th. Led by Band Director Ted Foreman, the middle school music makers kept the large crowd of parents and family members entertained with a variety of winter-themed music.

Green Valley is home to several different bands, including Jazz Band, Advanced Band, Intermediate Band, and Beginning Band. Each band performed several pieces at the concert with students on brass, woodwinds, guitars, drums, bells, and even whistles. The annual concert provides students an opportunity to showcase the skills they practiced over the course of the the first semester.

Director Foreman remarked, “Green Valley is such a special place. These students are so engaged and excited about learning music and performing for our school community. I feel like teenagers often get a lot of negative attention but these musicians are truly tremendous.” Foreman has spent the last several years at Green Valley, building up the program's size and encouraging students to continue their passion for music into their future.

Principal Steve Trotter said, “Our band program is so inclusive. Ted never turns any interested musician away. From the newest musician to students with years of experience, he takes them all and really plays a key role in helping to mold well-rounded students.”

The Green Valley Band programs perform throughout the year with performances during the school day, a performance at the Solano Town Center, and participation by some students in the North Bay Honor Band.
