January is time to acknowledge the dedication of the school board and its role in supporting student achievement

Fairfield, CA (January 15, 2026) – Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) is proud to join more than 1,000 local educational agencies across the state in recognizing the contributions of board members during School Board Recognition Month. As schools work to provide an equitable education to all students and support student well-being and equity, board members play a key role in setting the foundation, policies and priorities to support optimal student outcomes.

At tonight’s Board of Education Meeting, a proclamation was presented by Superintendent Jennifer Sachs to recognize the seven Board of Education Trustees and the Student Trustee.

“Our Board of Education serves as an essential bridge between our schools and the community,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “Through effective leadership and governance, they direct our vision, prioritize resources, and monitor progress toward our student achievement goals. The Board helps ensure accountability and, most importantly, supports student learning and success.”

FSUSD’s Board of Education Trustees are:

Helen Tilley – President

Jack Flynn – Vice-President

Kai Eusebio – Clerk

Alonso Duarte

Brigette Hunley

Ana Petero

Craig Wilson

Aiyanah Polk – Student Board Member

The dedicated work of our Board of Education helps guide our district’s vision, strengthens our schools, and creates meaningful opportunities for our FSUSD scholars.

Due to our Board’s unwavering leadership, FSUSD’s graduation rates have made remarkable progress, rising from 84.9% for the Class of 2023 to 90.2% for the Class of 2025. Their work has strengthened our facilities development progress including the opening of the B. Gale Wilson Middle School Gym and the Anna Kyle Elementary Office and Kindergarten complex. These projects are a direct result of two community supported bond measures, Measure J and Measure S.

Superintendent Sachs added: “I hope our entire community will join me in recognizing our hard-working board members for their support of students through effective policies, and for their continuing advocacy for more resources at the state level.”
