Award highlights the lasting impact of early learning professionals

Fairfield, CA (June 3, 2025) - Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District is proud to announce that Marisa Rubio, a dedicated preschool teacher at Mary Bird Early Childhood Education Center, was named the 2025 Solano County Early Childhood Educator of the Year. Rubio received the prestigious award at a ceremony held on May 16, 2025, at the Joe Nelson Community Center.

Rubio was recognized as a part of a distinguished group of nine Mary Bird staff members who were nominated for their outstanding contributions to early childhood education. In addition to Rubio, nominees included AnnaMarie Godoy, Maisha Burke, Shanna Wolf, Nerice Cao, Megan Stack, Kennedy Heil, and Rhodalyn Herrera, as well as Program Administrator Anna Mansker. Each nominee was recognized for their exceptional commitment to nurturing the youngest learners in our community.

Solano County Office of Education (SCOE), the Solano Child Care Planning Council and other community partners host the annual Solano Early Childhood Educator of the Year Awards program honoring early childhood educators who demonstrate excellence in the care and education of Solano’s young children. These professionals play a critical role in shaping the foundations of learning, emotional development, and academic success for their students.

"It’s because of their time and dedication that our youngest learners begin their educational journey with a solid foundation and motivation to learn."
