550 students and family members attended the district’s annual College Fair
Fairfield, CA (September 18, 2026) – The future was on full display at the annual Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District College Fair, which took place on September 1, 2026. A record 550 students and family members came together at Rodriguez High School to explore what comes next after high school.
Open to FSUSD students in grades 6–12, the event connected students and families with representatives from more than 50 colleges, career programs, and scholarship organizations. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, explore different pathways, learn about programs and admissions requirements, and discover the many options available after graduation.
“College and career planning is about helping students see what is possible and giving them the tools and support to pursue it,” said FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs. “Events like this bring those opportunities directly to our students and families and help them connect their interests and goals to their futures.”
The College Fair reflects FSUSD’s broader commitment to college and career readiness, including Career Technical Education (CTE). Through CTE pathways, work-based learning, career exploration, and partnerships with colleges, employers, and community organizations, students are encouraged to connect what they are learning in school with real-world opportunities, postsecondary education, and future careers.
This year’s event was coordinated by the Rodriguez High College and Career Technician (CCT) Julia Vallejo, as part of a collaborative effort among FSUSD’s College and Career Technicians and staff. The event rotates among members of the CCT team each year, with staff working together to create an experience that gives students meaningful access to postsecondary resources.
“Our goal is to make sure students know that there are so many different pathways available to them and that they don’t have to figure it all out on their own,” said Vallejo. “The College Fair gives students a chance to have those conversations, ask questions and start exploring what might be the right fit for them.”
And the conversation doesn’t end when the College Fair is over. Students can continue exploring the colleges, career programs, scholarships, and other opportunities they discovered by connecting with their school’s College and Career Technician. CCTs are an ongoing resource for students, helping them research options, identify programs that align with their interests and goals, navigate applications and financial aid, and connect with additional college and career resources.
With record attendance, this year’s College Fair demonstrated that FSUSD students and families are eager to explore their futures - and that they have a team of educators ready to help them turn those possibilities into plans.
